There are lots of good restaurants in San Miguel and new ones are opening all the time. Listed below are some of our favorites. In San Miguel things are always changing …especially restaurants (locations, hours). Good idea to call in advance and confirm location and hours!!! Reservations a good idea – necessary during busy season!
Fatima7
Located on the rooftop of Casa Blanca Boutique Hotel – One of the most beautiful views and spaces in San Miguel. Excellent food. Definitely a place for a special night on the night. Closed on Monday. Reservations required. 415-688-1438; Juarez 7.
Open only for dinner. For lunch, try the restaurant, Casa Blanca, in the courtyard at the
same location.
Tacos Don Felix
fantastic Mexican food – only open on Friday, Saturday and Sunday; reservations recommended;
Trazo
Upscale dining with limited menu (no Mexican); all of the dishes we had were excellent. Great ambiance; Hidalgo #8 (walk through an art gallery to the back ..it’s on the rooftop of Hotel 1810; 415-121-3501
La Posadita
Just a block away at Cuna de Allende #13. Primarily Mexican fare and good salads. Fabulous rooftop view with reasonable prices. Closed on Wednesday.
Food Factory
Located in the Fabrica Aurora – large menu with excellent food; busy at lunch but very quiet at night
Atrio
A new trendy hot spot located at Cuna de Allende 3. Great food and great views 415-688-1405 and 415-688-1406.
El Pegaso
Corregidora 6 – nice menu selection with lots of different cuisines. A favorite with Americans. It’s worth going just to check out the nichos on the walls. They have recently added a rooftop terrace for dining. Best apple pie ever!
Zenteno
Great coffee shop with coffee from Veracruz – located close by …opens at 8:30am Calle Hernandez Macias 136 (at the corner of Codo) 415-150-0135
Dragon Chino
Salida a Celaya #71. Great Chinese food – large portions! Closed Tuesday. Phone 415-185-8686
JOHFREJ
Jesus 2A. Located just around the corner on Jesus is one of the best chocolate shops around. The owner is Ramon and mention you are staying at Casa Carolina del Sur. We are very regular customers when we’re in town. He also has great ice cream and coffee. Generally closes at 8:00pm, though, so stop by early to get your chocolate for
a night snack. Great selection of handmade chocolates. Ramon also does really nice packaging for gifts if you want to take chocolate home. 415-152-3191.
Café Rama
conveniently located and very good …Calle Nueva No. 7 …right next to the Rosewood Hotel …closed Mondays 415-154.9655, Currently has live music on Saturday nights beginning at 8:30.

Mask Museum and Casa de La Cuesta Folk Art Gallery
A great opportunity to see over 500 Mexican Ceremonial masks on display located in a wonderful B&B, Casa de la Cuesta. The Folk Art Gallery represents six of Mexico’s most sought after folk artists. Hot Springs
A few miles outside of town on the road to Dolores there are some thermal hot springs that are well worth the visit. There are several different establishments. We prefer La Gruta as it has a really tropical setting and a great restaurant. Accessible by bus or taxi..
Tuesday Market (or Tiangus)
located on the outskirts of town and well worth the visit if you haven’t been. It is a local Mexican market where there is everything from fruits & vegetables to television remote controls and car batteries. Very colorful! All day Tuesday. Accessible by taxi.
Canada de la Virgen
pyramids about a 30 minute drive from San Miguel. Albert Coffee does tours of the pyramids and it a fantastic adventure. Choose the tour with the lunch option.
Botanic Gardens (El Charco del Ingenio)
on the outskirts of town. See “The Insider’s Guide” or brochure in this book for more information and exact directions.

Rose Ann Hall Designs
on the road to Dolores (map and info in this book). Charlie Hall has a workshop where workers with physical handicaps are making hand made candles and etching glass. Golf
There is great golf in San Miguel, although it is not inexpensive. 2 courses to play …Ventanas & Malanquin. Both 18 hole course and well maintained ..but challenging. Email Robert at rwmccullyjr@aol.com for details.
